Caretaker of Adults with Autism, she/her

“I work with adults with low functioning autism. We once were in CVS and one of my clients needed the bathroom. She normally isn’t very verbal about her bathroom needs so I knew she really needed to go.

I asked one of the employees if there is a bathroom she can use. The woman looked at me and my client and said im sorry- the bathroom isnt for customers. I told her that my client can’t really wait till we get back and can she please make an exception. She said no. I told my client that we will quickly go back to our center to use the bathroom. But then she had an accident all over the floor. So the employee came to clean it and and she was NOT happy about doing that. All couldve been avoided if she would have just let us use the bathroom”
